There’s still time to donate to Lt. Patty Simons Law Enforcement Food Drive

Law enforcement members from several departments work together to unload boxed food items at the Norristown Salvation Army during the 21st annual food drive in 2016.

The 23rd Annual Lt. Patty Simons Law Enforcement Food Drive is Collecting Donations for six area food programs

The 23rd Annual Law Enforcement Food Drive is underway throughout the area. The food collection, one of the largest in our region, will supply the Catholic Social Services in Norristown, Methacton School District Backpack Program, Patrician Society in Norristown, the Mattie N. Dixon Community Cupboard in Ambler, the Daily Bread Community Food Pantry and the Salvation Army Norristown Corps with food for operations throughout the next year. More than a dozen local law enforcement agencies and many area businesses have committed to participate. Over fifteen tons of food will be collected by the end of the drive on December 20th.

In November of 2007, the food drive was renamed in honor of Norristown Police Department Lieutenant Patty Simons. She was an active and vocal member of the drive since its inception and this is a fitting way to commemorate her love of the community.

For the next several weeks, food will be collected at locations throughout Montgomery County. Collection and sorting will take place at the US Maintenance building in Norristown. On the morning of December 20th, some of the food will be delivered to the Salvation Army with the traditional parade and police escort. The other food banks will also receive their donations on the 20th.
