At the time of her disappearance, Kathleen Mohn was 48 years old, 5 feet, 1 inch tall and weighed approximately 125 pounds.

On December 3, 1999, 48-year-old Kathleen Mohn allegedly left the home she shared with her estranged husband, Thomas Mohn, in the Gulph Mills section of Upper Merion Township. She was planning to head to Levittown for the weekend. Kathleen was eager to get a head start on wrapping Christmas presents that weekend and almost canceled her trip, but she decided to bring the gifts with her to wrap over the weekend. She has never been seen again. Her vehicle was located a few days later abandoned in a KFC parking lot Tullytown, PA.

This week, on The Vanished Podcast, host Marissa Jones covers the disappearance of Kathleen Mohn and speaks to Kathleen’s brother, Frank, and his daughter, Kathy, about how the last 19 years without their sister and aunt have affected them. Frank told Marissa, “it’s hard. I really miss her. I miss talking to her. Up to this day, if I had a situation  or personal problem going on, she would always you know gave me the sensible side. I miss her personality. [My daughter] Kathy is named after her. I actually do see a lot of the same traits between her and my sister, personality
wise and it makes me miss my sister more. My father passed away and never saw this resolved. He took that to his  deathbed, and I really feel bad about that. There are times when I look at situations with Kathy and my other daughter Amy and how much they miss their aunt and how helpful she would have been with some of the things they’ve gone  through over the years. There’s a big void really big void. You never really get over it. You get used to it but you don’t get over it.”

Marissa also spoke to retired detective Richard Gehman about his work on Kathleen’s case and his decades-long effort to bring her home. One of the things he shared with The Vanished is, “there has only ever been one suspect and that’s Thomas Mohn, and I realize that not cooperating with the police is not a crime but it seems a little suspect  to me. If my wife was missing, I think I’d be a lot more concerned than he has ever been.” Detective Gehman also shared his regret in not having been able to find Kathleen, “for about 14 months I did nothing else but work on this
case. And you know as time went by and there were no more leads, I worked on it at least monthly. I would relook at everything again and make some phone calls and do some things. This is the one that got away.”

Still Kathleen’s family hopes that increased exposure about her case will help bring answers and closure. To listen to this episode, go to:   ttp://www.thevanishedpodcast.com/episodes/2018/12/16/episode-153-kathleenmohn
