It’s a hat trick for mascots in the game of Philadelphia professional teams.

Philadelphia welcomed its third new sports team mascot is the past three months Friday morning when The Philadelphia Wings introduced Wingston.

Here is how the city’s National Lacrosse League expansion team, owned by Comcast Spectacor describes its newest member, writes John George in the Philadelphia Business Journal.

“Wingston’s nearly 7-foot frame is covered in soft golden fur with a feathery tuft of fire-engine-red lax flow on the top of his head that swoops from side to side while he makes diving plays at the net. Wingston boasts golden wings on either side of his delightfully oversized head. Dotted with three large jewels, Wingston’s tail is his defining feature. The presence of the red, black and silver jewels is in homage to the Wings rich history, representing the three reincarnations of the team, dating back to 1974.”

The Wings introduced Wingston during a special event at Friends Select School in Center City in front of an audience of 300 students.

“Wingston is a fun-loving, lacrosse enthusiast who will be an important member of our team,” said Lindsey Masciangelo, the Philadelphia Wings vice president of business operations. “He will be active in the Philadelphia community where he will help grow the sport of lacrosse and engage with fans of all ages.”

The Wings worked with character branding consultant Dave Raymond, the original Phillie Phanatic who now runs his own mascot business in Chester County, when developing Wingston. Raymond also consulted on the creation of the Philadelphia Flyers new mascot, Gritty. Gritty made his debut in late September, a few weeks after the Philadelphia Union unveiled in snake-like mascot Phang.
