When an estimated 15,000 children and their families show up to “Minefaire: The Ultimate Minecraft Experience” at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center on October 13-14, they’ll be celebrating a national phenomenon that started in their own backyard. The event will run Oct. 13 (10 am.m to 5 p.m.) and Sunday, Oct. 14 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, 100 Station Ave., Oaks. All-inclusive tickets start at $49 and are FREE for children age two and under. For more information or to purchase tickets, go to Minefaire.com.

“When we launched Minefaire in Philadelphia three years ago, we did so as two fathers who simply wanted our children to look up from their devices and interact with the real world,” says Gabe Young, a Northeast Philadelphia native who lives in the same Bucks County neighborhood as his buddy and Minefaire co-founder Chad Collins.

“Now in cities across the country, Minefaire has become a place where kids can make real-world connections with other children who share their love of the virtual world,” says Collins. “For parents, it’s a chance to breathe a sigh of relief. Your introspective children who express themselves through video games are not alone. At Minefaire, they not only belong – they thrive.”

Minefaire began with a single show in Philadelphia in 2016, and is now concluding a coast-to-coast tour of 11 major U.S. cities in 2018. Attracting about 250,000 attendees since its inception, this year Minefaire smashed another Guinness World Record for largest convention for a single video game (hitting 18,000 attendees during a stop in L.A.) The show continues its reign as the nation’s most popular Official Minecraft Community Event.

To celebrate, this year for the first time in Philadelphia, Minefaire fans will enjoy the New Minecraft Mixed Reality Experience. The most immersive Minecraft virtual reality experience available, fans will plunge into a full-body building experience in the second best-selling standalone video game of all time. Equipped at a level still unattainable in most homes, the New Minecraft Mixed Reality Experience is by far Minefaire’s most popular attraction. Young super fans will also enjoy:
