His first show on WOGL was on July 2, 1989. His last will be in December of 2018.

Harvey Holiday will retire as midday host at Classic Hits 98.1 (WOGL-FM) after almost 30 years with the highly rated station.

Holiday, 73, announced his departure in a Facebook message, which noted that his first day with the station was July 2, 1989. He said most radio personalities don’t get the chance to say goodbye on the air, but he will in what he is billing “The 12 Days of Harvey Holiday” that will run until Dec. 12., writes Jeff Blumenthal in the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Holiday’s Sunday night program, “Street Corner Sunday,” ended last January and it featured music from the 1950s and 1960s.

Holiday renewed his contract in January at the same time his long-running doo-wop evening program, “Street Corner Sunday,” ended after nearly three decades.

“After years of being an integral part of the WOGL family, Harvey Holiday has decided to retire at the end of the year,” an Entercom Communications Corp. spokeswoman said. “We wish him all of the best as he enters this new chapter and thank him for his many years of service.”

No word on who will replace Holiday, who aired from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., sandwiched between morning show host Marilyn Russell and afternoon drive host Nicky G.
