On Thursday, October 4, 2018, Philadelphia’s movers and shakers gathered at the Crystal Tea Room for the Family Owned Business Conference and to reveal the Philadelphia Business Journal’s top list of  Family-Owned Businesses.

Bud Hansen of Hansen Properties Inc (dba Normandy Farm Hotel and Blue Bell Country Club) was one of the program panelists, “Surviving Against the Odds: The Multi-generational Family Business” and spoke about the evolution of Hansen Properties from its inception as a real estate development company to today’s prominence in the hospitality industry.

Hansen Properties Inc. dba Normandy Farm Hotel and Blue Bell Country Club, ranked 13th on Philadelphia Business Journal’s list of family owned businesses. 

Bud spoke about his father (Bud Sr.) and his entrepreneurial spirit which drove the company’s growth through good and not so good economic times.

He credits his father for teaching him the discipline necessary to run a family business and reflects back on the many projects that they worked on together.

Bud has five children and the family business has always been a topic of conversation around the dinner table at home.  Who knows… maybe one or all of the Hansen children will carry on the tradition in years to come.
