National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) picked up and moved from its former Fort Washington location to Chemical Road in Plymouth Meeting, Montgomery County. The move was necessary to accommodate the nonprofit more space to host meetings and its growing staff. NCCN currently has an alliance of 27 leading academic cancer centers.

Its new 65,000-square-foot office is twice the size of NCCN’s previous space in Montgomery County. The organization had about 110 employees at its former site. It plans to reach about 125 employees by the end of this year, writes John George in the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Dr. Robert W. Carlson, CEO of the NCCN, said necessity to relocate indicates the growing momentum NCCN is experiencing in terms of serving the public.

“This new building is just one example of how NCCN is increasing our ability to address the diverse needs of people with cancer, and the clinicians who provide their care, all over the world,” said Dr. Carlson. “Our expanding capabilities allow us to do more every day to improve the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of cancer care so that patients can live better lives.”

The NCCN — whose alliance members include Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia — issues guidelines internationally to assist physicians, nurses, pharmacists, payers, patients and their families in the decision-making process involved in cancer care. The network’s goal is to improve patient care and outcomes.

Carlson said the organization is continually adding new principles to the more than 160 international adaptations and translations of the NCCN Guidelines available in 11 different languages.
