Natives of Montgomery County can spend their whole lives here and remain unaware of the many attractions in their own backyard. Too often, they might feel, they must drive long distances to experience history, culture, outdoor recreation, fine dining or or first-class shopping

Thanks to the new blog from the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board, however, residents can explore towns throughout the county with the the click of a mouse.

The board’s latest blog post lists nine towns alphabetically, from Ambler to Willow Grove, and each entry includes a link for detailed information.

Skippack for example, offers a downtown of shopping and dining without a single chain restaurant or store, and Evansburg State Park, an outdoor haven for hiking and horseback riding, is right nearby. Willow Grove, of course, is noted for the mall that was once an amusement park, but visitors can also find a wealth of history at Graeme Park  and the Wings of Freedom Museum.

The other towns listed are Ardmore, King of Prussia, Montgomeryville, Narberth, Plymouth Meeting, and Pottstown.
