There’s no denying the various types of therapy provided by the container garden atop the six-story garage attached to the Nicholas and Athena Karabots Medical Building at 1330 Powell St., Norristown.

Offering heart-healthy cooking demonstrations that highlight the herbal and vegetable rooftop harvest is just one of the contributions by Greener Partners, a nonprofit devoted to increasing public access to fresh, local produce, which partnered with Einstein Medical Center Montgomery and Montgomery County Health Department in creating the garden as a pilot program last summer, writes Gary Puleo at timesherald.com.

Fresh produce is grown and distributed all season to patients at the Genuardi Family Maternal Health Center and Montgomery Family Practice located in the medical building adjacent to the rooftop garden.

“The pilot program exceeded our expectations last year and so we expanded it from just our Genuardi Family Maternal Health Center to our Montgomery Family Practice and Moss Rehab, which are also located here. Pop up distribution stands will appear at Montgomery Family Practice waiting rooms, and Moss Rebab is actually bringing patients here for one-on-one therapy in caring for the plants,” noted Brandi Chawaga, Einstein Montgomery director of community wellness.
