The 5th annual Metroplex May Day recently took over the Target parking lot in Plymouth Meeting, when The Goldenberg Group and nonprofit Cradles to Crayons teamed up again for a “Battle of the Schools” competition.

Students from more than 15 area schools collecting donations of new or like-new clothes, shoes, toys, books, baby gear and new baby supplies for local children living in poverty, writes Gary Puleo at thereporteronline.com.

The winning schools were  Conshohocken Elementary (most product collected per student), and Colonial Elementary (most product collected overall).

This year the project raised nearly $7,000. Since 2014, the Metroplex May Day has collected nearly 60,000 gallons of product donations, benefiting almost 7,000 children.
