Easier than ever now to find breweries and wineries in Montgomery County

Pennsylvania is already the number one beer producer in the country, and to continue that growth a lot of great new breweries are expected to open soon.(MONTCO.Today file photo.)

The alcohol industry is hot right now, and Montgomery County tourism officials want in on the action, creating a new program and app to illustrate and promote the county’s 30-plus drink makers.

The Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board on Monday debuted Montco Makers to promote the county’s breweries, wineries and distilleries, writes Kenneth Hilario in the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Montco Makers is one of the brands that fall under the larger Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board umbrella, each with their own dedicated websites and videos.

The brands focus on a specific industry; the newest, Arts Montco that focuses on arts and culture, kicked off in October 2017. Others include Destination Montco Golf and Valley Forge Sports.

The tourism board developed the Montco Makers brand over the last few months, “because this has been such a hot topic in our region and across the country,” said Ed Harris, chief marketing officer, in an interview with the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board is also working with Workhorse Brewing Co., which when it opens in summer this year, will be King of Prussia’s only brewery, for a series of special Montgomery County-themed beers.

Workhorse this fall will release the yet-to-be-officially-titled beer and will subsequently release a new beer each quarter, cofounder Dan Hershberg told the Business Journal.
