State Rep. Kate Harper named trustee of Montgomery Bar Foundation

Timoney Knox, LLP is pleased to announce that Partner Catherine M. “Kate” Harper has been chosen to serve a three-year term as a trustee of the Montgomery Bar Foundation, a charitable affiliate of the Montgomery Bar Association.

The Montgomery Bar Foundation works to provide financial and other assistance to private, nonprofit organizations in Montgomery County that offer free civil legal assistance to children who are victims of abuse and neglect; individuals struggling with poverty; unlawful discrimination and barriers to vital health and human services; seniors threatened with exploitation and abuse; and victims of domestic violence.

An attorney for more than 35 years, Harper, of Lower Gwynedd Township, is a great complement to the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. She has been a partner at Timoney Knox since 1997. She is also a member of the Pennsylvania General Assembly in the House of Representatives, serving Eastern Montgomery County. Harper previously served for 13 years as a member and Chair of the Lower Gwynedd Township Board of Supervisors. Harper is one of the few Montgomery County attorneys to have argued a case before the U.S. Supreme Court.

A Villanova University School of Law graduate, her practice focuses primarily on municipal land use matters as well as real estate and civil litigation. She represents various municipal governing bodies and boards throughout Bucks and Montgomery counties.

Her extensive expertise in environmental issues has led Harper to serve on the Environmental Hearing Board Rules Committee as well as Vice-Chair of the Montgomery County Planning Commission and the Schuylkill Greenway Study Commission. She chaired the Montgomery County Open Space Planning Board and helped write the county’s Open Space Plan.

She received the Montgomery Bar Association Women in the Law 2016 Margaret Richardson Award.
