Craft beers have been a hot commodity for a few years now, and the state is betting on the trend to continue for years to come.

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board has approved the first round of Pennsylvania Beer Marketing Board grants — 13 of them totaling $704,985, according to a story on post-gazette.com.

The beer board, the full name of which is Pennsylvania Malt and Brewed Beverage Industry Promotion Board, was created by the Legislature as part of Act 39 in June 2016 to make recommendations to the PLCB for “increasing the production of Pennsylvania-made malt and brewed beverages and enhancing the Pennsylvania malt and brewed beverages industry.”

Montco is getting in on the action with $7,147 going to the Montgomery County Planning Commission for “Bringing Brewers and Farmers Together: Two matchmaking events in 2018 to connect interested farmers with local brewers in order to strengthen Montgomery County’s role in the local brewing economy.”
