Scaling down a proposed condominium tower from 29 stories to 24 and shaving down to 85 unites from 109, Horsham-based Toll Brothers will also add a glass facade running the length of the building, complying with permits and Philadelphia ordinances.

The 24-story building will now stand 308 feet, down from 338 feet, and have 85 condominiums rather than 109, said David Von Spreckelsen of Toll Brothers’ City Living division. The new design also attempts to have the base of the building and the tower aesthetically connected with a glass façade running the length of the structure, writes Natalie Kostelni in the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Aside from the height, some in the community were worried about the positioning of the building and how it seemed to loom over Sansom Street and the surrounding area. To counter some of that criticism, the building is now set back from the street by 12 feet with the massing of the tower designed so it does not appear as imposing. Retail space on the lower level is expected to be leased to jewelry stores.
