Two Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board (VFTCB) staff members were honored at this year’s PR People Awards Luncheon at the historic National Press Club in Washington, D.C. Tuesday.
Recognized as a leader of the future, Taylor Tropea, VFTCB Social Media and Brand Development Manager, has been named one of PR News’ Rising Stars 30 & Under for 2017. A PR People Finalist, VFTCB Chief Marketing Officer Edward Harris received honorable mention for Marketer of the Year, according to a press release from the board.
A 2015 graduate of Temple University’s Klein College, Tropea joined the VFTCB following graduation as a marketing associate. Currently working toward an M.S. in Digital Marketing from Temple, she manages more than 30 social media accounts for the VFTCB and has grown the organization’s social following by 69 percent.
An MBA-trained CMO, Harris has held management roles at Nike Inc., eBay, Under Armour, and Timberland. He was part of the Philadelphia Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Class of 2017, and serves as an adjunct professor at Saint Joseph’s University.
Tropea and Harris celebrated the acknowledgements at the event, which brought together more than 300 communications professionals to network and toast the innovative success of unique campaigns and cutting-edge practices.
The accolades add to a growing list of awards for the VFTCB, said CEO and President, Mike Bowman.
“These honors just speak to what a great place our organization is to work,” he said. “We’re attracting the kind of talented people who get recognized for their hard work, leadership, and innovative use of new technology.”
Other PR People finalists included professionals from Arby’s Restaurant Group, Inc., Cisco, Mayo Clinic, St. Joseph Health, Rodale Inc., Samsung Electronics America, The Levinson Group, and Viacom.
