Athletes Academy protegee Miles Green will reveal his D1 college decision where he honed his skills to become one of the top prep hurdlers in the country.

Green, a junior at St. Joseph’s Prep, has been setting records for years in track and now it’s all paying off with a bevy of big name NCAA Division 1 schools clamoring for him to come run for them. Michigan, Kentucky, UConn, Stanford, Virginia Tech, Illinois and Missouri are all hoping Green decides to come to their campus, and come Thursday, they’ll find out where he’s headed when he makes his announcement at St. Joe’s Prep, writes Stan Huskey for MONTCO.Today.

The track standout originally wanted to play football when he was in just the fourth grade, but an encounter with a local trainer changed all that.

“I’ve been coaching track and field for the last 12 years. During that time, I have never come across an athlete as young, hungry and determined as Miles Green,” said Kenroy Wallace, Green’s trainer at Athletes Academy in West Norriton, where Green has been training since he was 11. “He had such raw talent but what was even more remarkable about him was his ability to progress within his sport and his craft of hurdling. He’s a studious disciplined and focused athlete. His determination allowed me to reinvent myself as a coach. It was a challenge because I never had a track & field athlete with that type of talent and hunger to be great.”

Green’s hunger has led him to a trophy case full of accolades, including being the New Balance Freshman 400m Indoor National Champion when he first came to St. Joe’s Prep. He’s the Philadelphia Catholic League Record Holder in the 300m hurdles, is currently ranked 6th in the country in the 400m hurdles, two time High School All American and a six time 1st team All-Catholic League in the 400m and 300m hurdles, just to name a few.

“He excelled every year and forced me to become more innovative in training methods, which in turn made me the coach that I am today,” Wallace said. “We’ve laughed, cried, failed and succeeded together. That is the beauty of our relationship.”

Green is going to take full advantage of his good fortune and plans on becoming a Political Science major no matter which school he chooses, said Wallace.

“We’ve seen the highs and lows of the sport and life together… what an incredible journey,” Wallace continued. “The sacrifices we’ve made together thus far have led us to this beautiful situation where he now gets to pick which college he will attend to further his education.”

Green’s announcement will take place at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 15 in the café at St. Joe’s Prep. The public is invited.
