Norristown’s Columbus Monument to Celebrate 25th Anniversary in October

Columbus Monument in Norristown will celebrate its 25th anniversary on October 12, according to a staff report from The Times Herald.

The event at Harding Boulevard and Sterigere Street is being organized by Elmwood Park Zoo in partnership with J.P. Mascaro & Sons.

Starting at 11 a.m., the public event will include the singing of the U.S. and Italian national anthems and the Pledge of Allegiance led by St. Francis of Assisi students. Colors will be presented by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department Color Guard.

Phil Martelli, basketball coach at St. Joseph’s University and former Norristown resident, will be the keynote speaker.
