Penn Wynne, Merion Elementary, and Cynwyd Elementary – all in the Lower Merion School District – rank Nos. 2-4, respectively, on Niche.com’s 2018 rating of the Best Public Elementary Schools in Pennsylvania.

The ratings are based on rigorous analysis of key statistics and millions of reviews from students and parents using data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Ranking factors include state test scores, student-teacher ratio, student diversity, teacher quality, grade school ratings, and the overall quality of the school district.


The other three elementary schools in the Lower Merion School District – Gladwyne, Belmont Hills, and Penn Valley – checked in at Nos. 9, 13, and 17, respectively.

All six of Lower Merion’s elementary schools rated better than any other elementary school in Montgomery County.

Lower Gwynedd Elementary School in the Wissahickon School District ranks 23rd. Other elementary schools in Montco to crack the state’s Top 50 are:

  • Souderton Charter School Collaborative
  • Stony Creek (Wissahickon)
  • Montgomery Elementary (North Penn)
