Pottstown’s Manatawny Still Works is bringing its spirits directly to Philadelphia with a tasting room on East Passyunk Avenue, writes Kenneth Hilario for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The company already has a distribution network that covers Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, and Delaware, but the distillery is nearly an hour’s drive from a key target market, Center City.

To fix this, the distillery has added the 600-square-foot satellite outpost Craft Spirits Shop and Tasting Room on Easy Passyunk Avenue.

“The attraction was the community of restaurants and bars,” said co-founder Derek Menaldino. “In all the different places we looked, East Passyunk has a great concentration of BYOs, restaurants and a foodie community.”

The new location features a full-service cocktail bar with spirit tastings and a bottle shop. To comply with liquor laws for micro-distilleries, the new location will only serve Manatawny spirits.

Menaldino said the company did not have much exposure in the city until now, but the new location will change that.

“There’s all of these high-class people and organizations we’re looking forward to working with,” he said. “That’s a big draw for us, not only from a business perspective but an enjoyment perspective.”
