Fort Washington’s Nutrisystem is enjoying resurgence thanks to the efforts of its CEO, Dawn Zier, writes Suzette Parmley for Philly.com.

Since she took over the reins of Nutrisystem five years ago, Zier has used technology and data to turnaround the weight loss products and services company, creating 16 successive quarters of growth.

The first thing that Zier, who is an MIT graduate, did on her arrival was use her engineering background.

“First, identify what you’re trying to fix,” she said. “Then, break it down into components and analyze what’s working and what isn’t.”

One of her first moves was to create a FACTS-based culture which stands for focused, accountable, consumer-centric, team-oriented, and solution-based.

“We wanted to reinforce the point that we need to make sure our conversations and decisions are fact-based,” said Zier.

In 2013, she partnered with Walmart, adding Zier’s products to its 3,700 stores. Two years later, Nutrisystem acquired South Beach Diet which helped boost growth. Other key changes include introducing Turboshakes that are packed with probiotics, and the popular South Beach Diet menu.
