Flourtown’s Stable Tables Creates Unique Furniture from Reclaimed Wood

By

John Duffy of Flourtown’s Stable Tables left his telecommunications job to focus on creating one-of-a-kind tables from reclaimed wood.

After getting burned out working in telecommunications, John Duffy founded Flourtown’s Stable Tables and began his true calling, creating unique tables from reclaimed wood, writes Lew Larason for Montco Homes, Gardens & Lifestyle.

The idea for his business came when Duffy returned to the Philadelphia area and went into real estate with his friend Chris English. He soon realized value of creating unique tables after he tried to get one similar to the style that his friend had.

This involved a trip to the Eastern Shore of Maryland but he was told he would have to wait for over three months. That gave him the idea to create an even better product closer to home.

“I didn’t do much with the tables while the real estate business was going well,“ said Duffy. ”However, in the fall of 2006, I could see things were changing. So, I began making tables.”

Today, Stable Tables has three full-time employees and creates tables and benches from reclaimed wood and recycled iron in a 1,000-square-foot garage behind Duffy’s house.

“We do a lot of commercial work for restaurants, churches and conference tables for businesses,” said Duffy.
