Rydal Couple Add Outdoor Escape to Their Home
After their son Owen was accepted to the U.S. Naval Academy, Rydal residents Jen and Tripp Davis decided to add a 260-square-foot ‘outdoor’ living area to their home in Rydal, writes Diane M. Fiske for Philly.com.

The pair has lived in their 4,000-square-foot home for the last sixteen years. But after Owen left, they decided it was time to do something to brighten up their property.

The result is an outdoor living room looks like a small independent palace. Its shiny copper roof stands on stone half-columns that are set on a flagstone base. It also includes almost every amenity imaginable including a large flat-screen TV, stove, and refrigerator. The space even has a sink and an ice making machine.
“It is wonderful,” said Jen. It’d definitely “an improvement over last year, when we were about to rent a tent for the large party celebrating Owen’s admission to the Naval Academy
