One of the nation’s most formidable divorce lawyers, Norristown’s Lynne Z. Gold-Bikin, has adorned her Norristown office for decades with a collection of wedding memorabilia to remind her clients that love is not a lost cause, writes Kristin E. Holmes for Philly.com.

Her collection includes antique marriage licenses and certificates together with hundreds of wedding photos that document the history of weddings all the way back to the 1760s.

“I want people to believe in marriage. I’m not just out here to take their money,” said Gold-Bikin. “A lot of marriages shouldn’t end. People are just stuck.”

However, Gold-Bikin has now decided to donate her entire over 300 item collection currently at her Weber Gallagher Simpson Stapleton Fires & Newby offices to her alma mater, Albright College.

Around 40 documents and photos will be put up as part of a new display “Till Death Do Us Part” in the college’s Gingrich Library.

Gold-Bikin’s collection includes treasures such as a handwritten marriage license from 1787, Georgia church certificates for former slaves in 1868, and a copy of the first marriage license issued to a same-sex couple in Pennsylvania four years ago.

Albright plans to use the priceless collection in its sociology, history, and fashion classes.
