Rydal Park life care community in Jenkintown is in for some major changes as its owner, Presby’s Inspired Life, plans to spend close to $75 million on expansions, writes Natalie Kostelni for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The proposed project includes the construction of 85 new cottage homes that will be situated on the part of the campus closest to Susquehanna and Rydal roads. In addition, the owner plans to construct a clubhouse featuring a fitness center, a multipurpose room with a fireplace, as well as a cocktail lounge.

The outdoor area will also be enhanced with a heated swimming pool, fire pit, and several grilling places. The project, called Rydal Waters, has been designed by Stewart and Conners Architects.

The estimated cost for the cottage homes and clubhouse development was originally between $45 million and $50 million. However, that has grown now to around $75 million. Construction on the expansion will start when 70 percent of the new residences are pre-sold.

“Rydal Waters is the result of market surveys and listening to prospective residents in the area, bringing them the type of housing they’re seeking,” said Judee M. Bavaria, president and CEO of Presby’s Inspired Life.
